New Delhi Domestic Airport Branding

Challenge
The New Delhi airport was going through a total revamp (a new building) for which they needed
environmental graphics support. The task was to make the new airport experience memorable
for the passengers.

Idea
From being ‘Indraprastha’ to ‘Hastinapur’ to ‘Dilli’ to ‘New Delhi’, Delhi has been evolving since its existence. These 5000 years of constant change are preserved in the form of monuments, relics, structures, cultures and traditions in and across Delhi. Being a city with an ever-evolving heritage, the change is evident even today as the new Metro Rail network, malls, restaurants, residential complexes, hotels for the Commonwealth games are under construction, contributing to the changing landscape of New Delhi. We thought the best way to capture this ever-changing spirit of New Delhi at its airport would be the idea – ‘A new Delhi everyday’.

Execution
For a city that’s ever-changing, the message ‘A new Delhi everyday’ found an apt visual expression –
the kaleidoscope. Once we had this creative device with us, it didn’t take us much time to plaster the granite walls, glass doors, escalators and other significant spaces of the new New Delhi airport with graphic kaleidoscopic patterns of monuments, relics and various cultural aspects of New Delhi to bring alive the idea of ‘A new Delhi everyday’.
